SafeGuard PrivateDisk is a compact file security solution that protects confidential
files against unauthorized access and intrusions by creating a secure drive partition.
SafeGuard PrivateDisk accomplishes this by creating an encrypted virtual disk partition
on your computer.
The entire contents are stored in a safe area, completely protected from unauthorized
access. Upon read, data is decrypted in memory for fast access that's completely
transparent to the user.
Any differences from a regular hard disk are totally transparent to users. They
can create, save, move, and copy files as usual. Users can save these encrypted
files onto network servers, local hard disks, and any portable storage media (e.g.,
floppy or Zip disks, CDs, memory sticks).
SafeGuard PrivateDisk is now available in 16 languages, including Spanish, Portuguese,
Italian, Dutch, Japanese and Chinese. Also new for PrivateDisk Enterprise Edition
is an LDAP interface, allowing LDAP users to browse encrypted private volumes created
with PrivateDisk.
PrivateDisk also has new sharing and portability features. In PrivateDisk's new
Disk Wizard, users can opt to include SafeGuard PrivateDisk Portable, a freeware
decryption tool, to the destination directory of the newly created PrivateDisk volume.
This provides extra convenience for giving "decrypt-only" access to users whom do
not have SafeGuard PrivateDisk installed on their system, or to provide easy access
to private volumes stored on removable media such as CD-ROM, USB flash memory sticks,
external hard drives, or other portable media.
